Type of service:
Formatting:
A. For office formats
(Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), our translators open your document and overwrite your text with the translation. The formatting is therefore preserved exactly.
B. For modifiable graphic formats
(InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) and web formats (HTML, ASPX, PHP, etc.), our translators import your files into a software program which lets them see solely the text. When the translation is complete, the text is re-exported to its original format and returns automatically to the original layout. As there is no formatting work to be done after translation, you save a lot of time and money. All it needs then are a few minor alterations or adjustments which take only a short time but are critical (e.g. adapting templates to text lengths, applying automatic hyphenation to words in all foreign languages). You can make these minor alterations yourselves if you have the time, skills and appropriate IT tools. Otherwise, we can do them for you and deliver files that are ready for use. For graphic formats, we deliver the translation in the source format and, for your convenience, in PDF format. If you wish a price offer for delivery of the translation in the original format of the text (InDesign, html, etc.), we will need a copy of the text in that format. Working with the source formats has another crucial advantage: the software we use allows us to put all the multilingual versions of your texts into a memory so if you update your document at a later date, we will only need to invoice you for the additional text but can still deliver you a complete version of the updated document.
C. For non-modifiable graphic formats
(PDF, jpeg, tiff, etc.) : it is quite possible to translate this type of file, but it is the most expensive process as: 1. converting into Word for translation purposes is rarely perfect and is therefore to be avoided; 2. a new Word document needs to be created with similar formatting; 3. the advantage of storing the translations in a memory is lost (see full explanation in B.)
