Translation quality and methodology
Before submitting your translation project to us, do you want to know more about our quality assurance process and our methodology?
Of course you do!
At ViaVerbia, we are aware that your documents are of the highest importance and deserve all the care we can give them to ensure a translation service of the highest quality.
Our methodology and quality assurance process
We comply with international quality standards. Besides that, we have based our methodology on these standards to offer you a service of the highest possible quality.
Preliminaries
A project manager deals with your request. This person will be responsible for your project throughout. He or she will be your contact for any questions you may have. During this first stage, your project manager will determine with you a whole set of requirements and objectives to be fulfilled on delivery: source language(s), target language(s), document type, format, area of expertise, terminology management, delivery date, etc.
Selecting translators
We have currently nearly 3000 freelance translators in our network, based in the four corners of the world.
We have developed a rigorous selection method, based on demanding criteria. We can therefore choose the most appropriate translators for your project.
Terminology
We pay particular attention to the choice of terminology used when we translate your projects:
- If you have a multilingual glossary of specialist terms, we will comply strictly with it, and we will update it systematically and make it available to you free of charge.
- If you have multilingual reference documentation, we can extract the specialist terminology to create a glossary which will then be used as the basis for all your translations.
- Our Terminology Department can create a reference glossary for your business and use it for all your translation projects. It will undertake the necessary research, consulting authoritative sources in the area of expertise.
Translation tools
Our translation tools (published by SDL Trados, the world leader in the market) enable us, by putting the glossaries into translation memories, to ensure terminological consistency across all the translations made for each of our clients, whichever translator is working for a specific client. They also enable us to identify automatically new parts of updated files, avoiding the need to retranslate previously translated segments. This means you can easily make savings on document updates.
Quality control process
We have developed a comprehensive battery of linguistic and technical tests to ensure that the translation of your project fully meets the strictest quality standards and that it matches the project specifications agreed in the preliminary phase in all respects. These quality assurance checks are based on international standards on the subject.
We comply with international standard ISO 9001:2008, European standard EN 15038 and American standard ASTM F2575-06.
